Registering as an Eligible Organization

Are you considering applying for funding through the DDCDC? To get started, please review the guidelines on this page to ensure your project is eligible.

DDCDC considers grant applications from organizations that:

  1. Are registered as eligible organizations through the DDCDC portal;
  2. Operate within the designated Catchment Area, and;
  3. Focus on community-benefiting projects or events.

Eligible projects align with one or more of the following categories:

  • Economic development
  • Social development
  • Justice initiatives
  • Education development
  • Recreational facilities operation and development
  • Senior and youth programs
  • Cultural development
  • Community infrastructure development and maintenance
  • Health initiatives
  • Other charitable purposes

Note: Renovation projects are eligible only if the applying organization owns or is the majority owner of the building. The renovations must enhance service delivery and provide a broad community benefit.

DDCDC does not issue funding to:

  • Individuals
  • For-profit organizations or not-for-profit groups sustaining for-profit entities
  • Political parties, lobby groups, or groups promoting unlawful social change
  • Federal and provincial government departments, ministries, or penal institutions
  • Organizations promoting racial or ethnic superiority or religious intolerance

Additionally, funding is not available for:

  • Adult sports activities
  • Organizations or projects outside the DDCDC Catchment Area

Funding can cover a variety of costs directly related to delivering community-benefiting projects, including:

  • Wages and salaries for project-specific staff
  • Professional fees, materials, and supplies
  • Youth sports expenses such as tournament fees (up to $1,000), coaching clinics, and travel costs
  • Equipment rentals, utilities, or facility rentals (short-term only)
  • Transportation and standard hotel accommodations for project participants

Certain expenses cannot be funded, such as:

  • Administration fees or general operating costs
  • Alcohol, tobacco (except for ceremonial use), and luxury items
  • Tips, penalties, or late fees
  • Expenses for adult sports or attendance at conventions/workshops
  • Leasehold renovations that lack broad community benefits

Follow these steps to apply:

  1. Register Your Organization
    • Use the DDCDC portal to register and determine your eligibility.
    • Allow a minimum of two weeks for processing.
    • Registration is valid for three years.
  2. Prepare Your Application
    • Ensure your project aligns with the funding categories and guidelines.
    • Include all required documents to expedite the process.
  3. Know the Intake Deadlines
    • Submit your application by 4:30 p.m. on these dates:
      • April 30
      • September 30
      • January 30
    • Projects must begin at least 8 weeks after the intake deadline.
  4. Review Process
    • Applications are reviewed by the Community Investment Coordinator and adjudication committee.
    • Final decisions are made by the DDCDC Board of Directors.

Application Timelines

 1st Intake deadline submission date  April 30th
 2nd Intake deadline submission date  September 30th
 3rd Intake deadline submission date  January 30th

Grant applications must be received before 4:30 p.m. on the deadline submission date.

Grant applications are prepared for review by the Community Investment Coordinator. An adjudication committee reviews and provides recommendations to the Board of Directors. Decisions made by the Board of Directors are final.
